The devil is in the details

Here’s a pretty decent kitchen rehab in a turn of the century house. They went to a lot of effort to install this nice  under cabinet wall mount microwave but apparently didn’t plan for power. This kind of short cut looks terrible.

When you find yourself in a situation where you were short on planning don’t be afraid to stop and go backwards. I suspect this rehabber didn’t realize his problem until after the cabinet and microwave were hung. Time is on your side as a DIYer. Professionals get paid to be fast and accurate. You only have to be accurate. Kitchens are disruptive to rehab while you are living at the property but try to avoid rushing. A handyman is just someone who has screwed up enough times that they finally get it right.
